Portland sits between two major rivers, the Willamette and Columbia. Multiple smaller rivers and tributaries move through the immediate area. They provide habitat for wildlife, transportation, and recreational, to name a few benefits. Salmon are vital to the ecosystem of this region and depend on our rivers. Water is my most personally nourishing natural element. This piece evokes stillness. It suggests an unpopulated spot, early morning fishing or perhaps paddling in quiet. This is one of two works exploring the environmental graphics theme of river for The Portland Building.
